Equipped with AC-DC transmission, DES-DF11D is a passenger diesel locomotive for quasi-high-speed hauling. It can running at speed over 160km/h on busy main line.
The diesel power drives a three-phase AC synchronous traction alternator to generate three-phase alternating current. Through rectifier, the current is fed to the traction motor which then drives the wheel sets through traction gears.
The locomotive features microcomputer control system, magnetic valve/air brake system and rheostat brake system, axle temperature inspection device, unit brake and double path radiator.
